5 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day as a Single Pringle

I’ll admit it: I’m a Single Pringle. I’m not in a committed relationship and I’m content in the life of no commitment. Except for Valentine’s Day. It’s the loneliest day of the year for a reason, but that’s no reason not to celebrate!

It’s very easy to feel alone and unloved on February 14th, but that is just unacceptable. So it’s time to show ourselves some love! I deserve just as much love from myself as I do from a boyfriend. That’s why I came up with five incredibly easy/fun ways to treat myself and feel special on a day that’s about loving those most important to us.

So, let’s see how I shall be treating myself {and you should too!} this wonderful Valentine’s Day.

The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

1. Treat yourself to dinner & a movie

Whoever said dinner & a movie was overrated was crazy. There’s nothing better than something delicious and something entertaining. Take yourself to your favourite restaurant for the best meal ever, and then go see that Oscar-nominated film you didn’t get a chance to see. Or, if you’re more of a homebody like me, cook up your go-to dish {penne alla vodka and chocolate dump cake} and indulge while watching the pride of your DVD collection. Food & film always go together.

2. Have an endorphin-filled workout

The best part of Valentine’s Day? There’s no one at the gym. Treat yourself with some time of your preferred treadmill, or fill a spot in that always-full spin class. That rush of endorphins will make you feel fit and energized. Which is what you want when you eat that whole box of chocolates when you get home.

Not sure what to choose? I have been loving ClassPass with the endless options for different workouts all around the city, all booked right from my phone. I never would have tried barre without it, and now I’m hooked!

3. Enjoy some retail therapy

When does shopping not make you feel special? Pull out that credit card and buy something that makes you feel special, beautiful, and irresistible. You deserve it!

4. Indulge in a relaxing bath

The best way to love yourself is to relax. Fill up your tub with some fragrant _______ bath salts, pour a glass of wine, and listen to your favourite podcast while you let every stress melt off your shoulders. Let today be a day you don’t feel stressed, but remind yourself that you are worth a little bit of “me” time.

5. Take a class

Not into relaxing? Take a class! Look into classes in your area for anything from floral arrangements to painting. See if your city has a DIY bar and hit it up! Find something you’re interested in and run with it. See where your imagination takes you.

I’m looking forward to a Valentine’s Day of eating pasta and cake, watching my favourite movies, taking a bath, and going to bed stupidly early because I deserve it!
