Best of August 2019

Wow, August was a doozy. A little heartbreak, a lot of stress, and a fair amount of fun came in this month and while I won’t be asking for a remake, I appreciate the lessons this month has taught me. If there’s one thing that my faith has assured me, it’s that when we listen to our struggles, we find our strengths.

Along with this difficult month was a lot of good things! Amazing things! I have recommendations out the hoo-ha! I discovered so many amazing things this month and honestly couldn’t wait to write this post. It’s rare that I get so excited about recommendations, but as an Enthusiast, it’s a hazard of the job.

The Best {Buys and Choices} of August 2019

Differin Daily Deep Cleanser with Benzoyl Peroxide – Sensitive Skin Formula

A friend recommended this and so I immediately picked it up. I have really bad chin acne that comes from stress, hormones, and loving tortilla chips. Nothing helps with the huge zits and I spend most of my month coming up with clever ways to cover them. I started using this twice a day and immediately saw results! My one big pimple turned basically flat in 4 days – and I’d had it for two weeks! It’s incredibly gentle on my skin and I haven’t experienced any drying. If you’re looking for something to get rid of your stubborn pimples, look no further!

ASOS DESIGN Grid Texture Dress

If you spend any time with me, you know I’m a jeans and sweater kind of girl. I rarely dress up, and I rarely enjoy it. But when a surprise chance to see a drag show popped up, I needed something to wear. This dress is light (it’s mostly cotton) and still looks edgy and chic in the dark lights disco balls. I wore a black bandeau under it (the top is see-through) and just loved how comfortable I was in it all night. It’s a classic piece I’ll be able to wear for years to come, and so worth it for $40.

Trader Joe’s Kale, Cashew & Basil Pesto

In my 50/50 vegan lifestyle, there are things I can’t give up because I can never find a good vegan alternative. Pesto is one of those things. I picked this up at the beginning of the month and it has become a staple in my fridge. Put it on pasta, bread, eggs – I’d put it on everything if I could. Lately I’ve been loving it on scrambled eggs with some of Trader Joe’s fat free feta. Delicious!

Invisibobble Hair Ties

I have a lot of hair. It doesn’t always look like it, but the back of my head is a forest of brunette hair just waiting to get tangled. I always struggle to find hair ties that stay in and don’t hurt – tender scalp problems – and I think I’ve found the one. I put the invisible ones in my hair and they will stay all day with zero ouch. I wore one to drag night and you couldn’t even tell it was in my hair. I’ve heard some great things about Teleties, so I’ll try those and then give my vote.

This show was sitting in my Netflix queue for months before I decided to start it on a whim. I was missing out! This show is funny, glamorous, gory, serious, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all at the same time. If you love heists/con artists as much as I do, this show is for you. Also, can Jules be my best friend?
