Born This Way

As I was watching this week’s episode of Glee, I came across the title. “Born This Way”. The entire episode was about accepting yourself and loving what you are given. Rachel learned to love her nose, Quinn learned to accept her old look and flaunt it, and Santana learned to stop hiding her lesbian sexuality. It was a really beautiful episode that isn’t shown that much in television. And it made me think.

None of us love everything about ourselves. We always feel the need to change ourselves. Whether it be our looks or our personality or habits, we always feel that need to completely change. But what we really need to learn to love ourselves.

My problem with myself is my glasses. I’ve been wearing them since I was 4. I hate wearing them because they make me look like sure a nerd and have gotten me enough bad jokes to last a lifetime. But when I finally learned to accept them and everything, I felt much better about myself! I now wear them with confidence and don’t feel so self-conscience. So, please, I will add on to this later, but for now, learn to love yourself the way you are. You are a special person in your own way, big or small, perfect-looking or terrible looking. You know I’ll always love you.
