Who else is excited for July 4th weekend? There are just so many options. Barbecues. Swimming pools. Fireworks. Red, white, and blue. And those are just some of my favourites for this holiday.
And to prepare for this week, Portland has been especially hot, especially last weekend. My apartment reached record highs and it’s taken days to get all the hot air out. That’s why this week’s favourites are focused on everything I have used to stay cool for the summer.
Cool for the Summer: A Favourites Friday
When it’s hot in my apartment the last thing I want to do is cook. Luckily I had a Stanford’s gift card hidden in my wallet and was able to treat myself to some lobster tempura and cake. If you’re ever in the PNW, definitely hit up one of their spectacular locations.
When the heat goes up, my hair goes crazy. I have pretty dry hair, and with this kind of weather it becomes dry and nasty. This deep conditioner is always a saviour – which is why it’s made its way onto my favourites a few times – and kept my hair smooth and manageable. Plus, you can feel how deeply it conditions while it’s on!
3. Striped Dresses
If it’s hot and I have errands, my go-to is a sundress. And a striped sundress is by far one of the cutest things to ever exist. I think that’s why it’s one of my favourites this week, I wore more than one as the week progressed.
The perfect flush of colour for any hot day, I have fallen in love with how natural this colour is.
5. Hydro Flask
When the heat is in the 100s, no amount of ice is going to make it past 10 minutes. But with my handy Hydro Flask, I can keep my water nice and cold for hours. This was really helpful with how horrendously hot it was all weekend, plus they are great for hiking or long days out.
