My Favourite Blushes

As a fair-skinned woman who looks like a ghost when I wake up after my zzz’s, blush is my best friend.

Over the years I have tried many different blushes and found ones I love for colour, texture, and wearability. It is only when I really love a blush that I buy it again. Below are the blushes that have made it into my makeup bag again and again.

The Best Blushes {Especially for Oily and Pale Skin}

This blush comes as close as it gets to a natural flush. I’ll forget I’m wearing blush, or friends won’t believe I’m wearing makeup. It has a subtle shimmer that just brings a little highlight to my cheeks, but keeps up matte throughout the day. And just two small swipes on the cheeks makes for a day full of rosy complexion.

This shade is a bit more peach-y, and I like it as a summer shade. It is very pigmented and lasts all day, which is great when I’m sweating at outdoor concerts and walks in the park. And by very pigmented, I have to barely swipe my brush against the palette before I have enough for two cheeks.

Nars Blush in Dolce Vita

If it’s good enough my mom uses it, it’s good enough for me. Despite how dark the colour is, it goes on light for a “just been in the garden” look. It’s well pigmented and, as with most Nars products, totally worth every dollar. Their “Orgasm” colour is also popular and is equally as lovely.

Lancome Blush Subtil Oil Free Powder Blush in Rose Fresque

I got turned onto this blush from an old palette of my mom’s and continue to use it to this day. The colour is that “barely there” pink that’s great for light makeup days, and has a nice matte feel that stays even when you’re running around like crazy. This is a timeless addition to any makeup bag.

This was part of a goodie bag I received and is now a cheek colour  I wear most days. Another highly pigmented blush with a pinky-peach tone that I love how it compliments the pink tones in my skin. Mineral blushes are great because they aren’t as bad for your skin, and I love how soft and natural it feels going on.

Maybelline Fit Me! Blush in Medium Nude

I like this colour because it gives a natural flush, but looks more dramatic, which is great for looking a bit more dressy. It isn’t too pigmented, but I like to layer it on because it isn’t heavy but helps to add that drama to my look. Beware, it will break if you slam it too hard on the counter, but the colour is a good pay off.
