They say that the secret to success is to get a good night’s sleep. And to get a good night’s sleep is to have a routine that relaxes you and alleviates any stresses for the morning. That’s why having a nightly routine is very important to having a successful life.
My Nightly Routine for a Good Night’s Sleep
1. A cup of tea
I find a cup of some sort of detox tea (Yogi’s Stress Relief tea is amazing) before I head to sleep helps me calm down. The warmth of the tea is very relaxing and helps flush out toxins.
2. Deep face cleanse
Washing off the day’s dirt is very important to ending the day. My process is 1) Cleanse 2) Tone 3) Mask 4) Moisturize
After I have moisturized my face I give a little love to the rest of my skin. I love lotion that focuses on healing skin and providing some sort of stress relief, like lavender.
4. Put away dishes
To make sure my kitchen isn’t crowded in the morning I make sure to put away all my dishes from today. In such a small apartment it helps to make the space a little bigger.
5. Take vitamins
Ending my day with Vitamin D makes sure my body feels like it’s been in the sunshine. If you’re unsure of what kind of vitamins you can be taking, take a multivitamin.
6. Lay out next day’s clothes
I can wake up 20 minutes later because I lay out the next day’s clothes. Even if it’s just pulling out a top and pants, it makes the next morning much easier.
7. Watch Netflix
Many people say that watching Netflix before bed inhibits sleep. Since I started watching Netflix before bed I sleep a lot better. And fall asleep quicker. It’s about finding a show that is your ‘sleep show’ and only watching it before you sleep. It tricks your brain into associating the noises of the show with sleep, helping you to sleep quicker. And that’s the story of how I fall asleep every time there is a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit marathon.
