Song Saturday: Best of this Week

Song Saturday

Hiya Enthusiasts! It’s Song Saturday for Everyday Enthusiasm and what better way to kick this off than reviewing iTunes Top 10 Songs this week? I’m a music buff, I won’t lie, and I think it’s time I reviewed some music that isn’t my favourite. Let’s see what happened…

Morgan Reviews iTunes Top 10 Songs (Without Rushing Back to Her BritPop)

1. Can’t Feel My Face – The Weeknd

This song is catchy, no doubt, but the only part I really like is the not computer altered singing. While I can see why it’s made it to #1 on the charts, the part that’s been altered is a bit generic. But I can definitely see myself bopping along to this in the car on the way to the store.

2. Back to Back – Drake

30 seconds in and I couldn’t do it. No, I do not like this song. I’m sure lots of people do (it is #2) but I do not.

3. Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix Radio Edit) – Omi

THIS SONG IS MY JAM. Upon finishing the first listen I’ve replayed it 10 times. This song is catchy, has positive lyrics, and the background beat is just infectious. Why can’t my boyfriend write me a song like this?

4. Drag Me Down – One Direction

The first song post-Zayn and if this is what they’re producing, then Zayn should have left a while ago. This is my new running song. Mostly because Niall sounds great and he’s like my fave (Harry sounds good too, we’re just on rocky terms currently). Definitely worth a #4 spot – even though it was #1 within hours of coming out.

5. Fight Song – Rachel Platten

I’m all for girl power, and this song is all about that. Rachel Platten has the most gorgeous voice and her message is so powerful. Songs like this are the reason I love music and I’m glad that this is still in the Top 10 after being out for weeks.

6. Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) – Silentó

This is what we’re feeding to the generations of the future? The only brain positive thing about this song is it’s catchy. Otherwise all the dance moves and constant repetition are just ridiculous and I think I’ve lost some brain cells. This just upsets me.

7. Kick the Dust Up – Luke Bryan

I’m on and off with my love of country music, and I like this song. The instrumental is really good, Luke Bryan does have a great country voice, and for country music this definitely deserves to be somewhere high on the list.

8. Marvin Gaye (feat. Meghan Trainor) – Charlie Puth

I’ve seen this song live, so I’m totally biased. But no matter what, it’s still a great song. Charlie Puth is a very clever lyricist and this song is a great example. The use of piano is the perfect compliment. I love this song.

9. The Hills – The Weeknd

Total props to The Weeknd for getting two songs on the Top 10. But I can see why one is #1 and one is #9. This song is nice, but not something I generally would listen to. It is a good song, just not a lot of variation so my brain gets bored.

10. Good for You (feat. A$AP Rocky) – Selena Gomez

As someone who used to be a die hard Selena Gomez fan, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this song. And I like it. Definitely a more low key song – which I always appreciate – but the message I’m not sure how I feel. But as a song in general, I think SG did a good job.

Do you agree with my music reviews? Which iTunes Top 10 Songs do you like best? Should I do this again?

Check back again tomorrow for Sweet & Savory Sunday, where I’m making one of my favourite dinner recipes!
