That was a quote from Alex Day’s blog Alex Day Music from his post about Summer in the City and the use of YouTube, which you can read here. It’ also the inspiration for this blog post.
I started blogging because it was something I thoroughly enjoyed. I love coming up with interesting anecdotes, fun series, and quirky takes on being a teenager. It’s something that makes me feel like I’m contributing to human society. And that’s how a lot of bloggers start out, happy to just get their ideas and thoughts out into the open.
I realize that I don’t want hits as much as I want people reading what I have to say, mostly because I want to know that I made an impression on someone. The first time anyone ever told me I made an impression on them with my writing (who I didn’t know) was a woman who commented on my Reality of Thumbelina post from a few months ago. She had a young daughter and said that her little daughter, barely even into elementary school, had been read the article by her mother and had loved it. The little girl had really been impressed upon by what I had written. It meant so much that I wanted to cry. And that’s when I really realized that it doesn’t matter how many people read your blog, but how many people read your blog.
Blogging is about putting your words, or music or whatever else that requires you typing up a post like this so people will read it, somewhere where they will be noticed and recognized. That’s what I really love about blogging and I feel like people are forgetting it. We need to keep up this fun, non-statistic reading blog front up. Because that’s why we started blogging in the first place.
