Summer Beauty Essentials

Anyone else sweating?

Summer is finally upon us and it’s time to update our beauty routines again! That means we’re trading in our heavy foundations and dark colours for light blushes and deodorant. As we make the change it is very important that our makeup bag/toiletry kit switches out in order to look our best and not sweat our entire face off. Not to mention how uncomfortable the wrong beauty products can feel in the hot summer sun.

Summer is about feeling light and airy in the sweaty sun. And with the right tools it’s easy to achieve this and feel amazing all summer long!

So before I continue going on, let’s just get to what you need to look your best this summer!

The Summer 2016 Enthusiast’s Beauty Essentials

Peach blush

peachy. Very pretty neutral makeup.:

As summer comes in it’s time for cheeks that look sunkissed and healthy, which is why trading pinks for peaches is perfect. A great peach blush, like tarte’s Fame blush in their Showstopper Clay Palette, makes cheeks pop with a natural flush that makes summer skin look dewy and happy. This palette (which I use on an almost everyday basis for summer) is great because it stays on even with a lot of sweating.

Dry shampoo

brunette balayage highlights

This Living Proof dry shampoo is highly rated and makes hair a no-grease zone. Dry shampoo can also give freshly washed hair a little summery texture when you’re low on time.

Tinted moisturizer/BB cream

Top 7 Secrets to Get an Everyday Natural Makeup - Trend2Wear:

Summer is too hot for heavy foundations. That’s why tinted moisturizers/light BB creams are the perfect solution. Apply the tinted moisturizer as you would any foundation, tap on some powder, and head out the door for a dewy, comfortable makeup look that provides great coverage without all the weight. I’m personally in love with Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer as it is one of the top tinted moisturizers on the market and makes my skin flawless.

Rosy highlighter

Strobing. This is "new"? I have been using my highlighter like this for year now. Ha! I am finally ahead of the trend. Never did the whole contouring thing, I don't have ages to put makeup on.:

Highlighter is big during summer because it gives skin that light-kissed look without spending hours in the sun. And because it’s summer having a rosy glow is preferred. That’s why I love The Beauty Crop’s highlighting cream, as it adds a rose gold highlight to the cheeks that is natural but makes skin look flawless!

Tinted chapstick

Lip Stains: The Prettiest Sheer Lip Colors for Summer | StyleCaster; Josie Maran magic marker lip and cheek stain in waltz:

Lipstick is heavy and gross with how hot it is, and chapstick doesn’t add any colour. So a tinted chapstick is the perfect compromise! Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment is great as it keeps lips healthy while providing colour, or it works great for layering under a light lip gloss. Choose a chapstick with a bit of colour to swipe on and look flawless no matter where your summer takes you.

Brow gel

Brows and liner using #Dipbrow in Dark Brown @helenareynismakeup #anastasiabrows:

It doesn’t matter how sweaty you are, your brows should always be on fleek. Brow gel, like Benefit Cosmetic’s, can help fill in light areas, keep brows in place, and add a bit of colour for lighter brows. If you’re going to use any product, make it be brow gel.

A little too much shine for me, but I suppose it is good as a chart of where to contour and highlight your face.:

I feel like it goes without saying, but bronzer is a summer must-have. Using something like Nars Laguna Tiara Bronzer, skin can look like you’ve been on vacation all year long, which is just very flattering for everyone.

Pale polish

it is a beautiful pale purple the look is amazing and magnificent and beautiful and last but no least a crazy fun look:

This is a personal choice, but I always think summer is the perfect time to break out the pale nail polish. From barely there lavenders to pearly pinks to pale grays, using a light nail polish is the way to go for summer. A favourite? Julep’s Alexa, a pale lilac. I love it because it tends to look more natural, plus less upkeep, which makes summer fun less stressful than keeping up with chips!

Brown eyeliner

Smokey cat eye. Putting on our list of makeup looks to try with our new Urban Decay Naked palette.:

Trade in your black for brown for a lighter look. I like brown eyeliner during the summer because it’s not as harsh, which is very summer-esque. It also goes more with the more gold/rose/beige eyeshadow that is worn during the summer. Skip the liquid liner and use a thin brush to apply a brown eyeshadow on your lashline for a more romantic summer eye that can be lightened or darkened depending on day or night. For blue eyes I love Smashbox’s Photo Op Trio because it offers a few options depending on what look I’m going for.
