The 16 Beauty Products I Buy Over and Over Again

While I love trying out new products and using about every sample the store gives away, there are some tried and true products that will always be in my routine.

Today I’ve compiled a list of the products that have been staples in my beauty routine for years now. Some of them are more recent than others, but every single one is something that I think is necessary for me to look (and feel) my best. These products have gotten me through the rough times (Hello, finals week with my period) and have made sure I’m primped in the good moments. Everything in this list is perfection, so why not share?

Hopefully you will try some of these and they will make it into your routine just like they did mine!

The 16 Beauty Products I Swear By

1. e.l.f. Volumizing & Defining Mascara ($2)

This mascara creates lashes that are long, volumptuous, and defined while looking incredibly real. It’s such an easy mascara to apply (even one coat creates major definition) and can be used for both daytime and going out. I wear it almost every single day and the amount of times people have told me my mascara is on point is more than the days I have been alive. I literally live for this mascara, especially with the price!

2. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap ($17)

My whole life I have struggled to find a face wash that doesn’t dry out my skin, but also gets all of the gunk out of my oily pores. This face wash penetrates deep and leaves my skin completely fresh. Actually, I broke out right before graduation, used this for three days, and had flawless skin on the big day! This is honestly one of the best cleansers I have ever used in my life and I plan on always having a bottle on my counter. Plus, they have different formulas for different skin types, so everyone can try!

3. tarte Showstopper Clay Palette ($40)

My obsession with this palette is actually sort of disturbing. I use it every day and it’s always in my suitcase because I can’t go a day without it. Where to start? The bronzer is the perfect shade and blends so nicely for contouring or just a brush of colour. The highlighter is so amazing I have had more than one compliment on how my skins seems so radiant. The blush is the perfect peachy shade for looking sunkissed and cheery. And all of the eyeshadows are gorgeous, finely milled, and blend so well. I like to use the darker shades as eyeliner and have had no fall out. I’m not kidding when I say this is an essential for any makeup-wearing-person because you will always look your best with this palette.

4. St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer ($5)

I have been using this since high school and it hasn’t failed me since. Apply a dime size to your entire face and you have supple, hydrated skin all day long. Even when my skin is at my driest the smallest amount has fixed all my problems. I am sincerely in love with this moisturizer, and the collagen in the formula will keep me looking young when my grandchildren have grandchildren.

5. Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation ($48)

This foundation is literally worth $100. Think of a soft, candlelit dinner with your significant other and how beautiful your skin looks. This does that. It blurs out all of those imperfections and gives that soft, lit-from-within glow that we all want. And you don’t need a lot to do it either, just a pump or two. I wear this just about every day (during the summer I mix some moisturizer with it to create the best tinted moisturizer) and I’m going to order more soon because I’m almost out.

6. Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk ($20)

I have tried a lot of dry shampoos, and this one is the only one that will work for my hair. Just five minutes later my hair feels like I just washed it. For someone who gets really oily bangs, I didn’t think a product like this was possible. But it literally soaks up all the oils in my hair and leaves a nice shine. And it doesn’t make the texture of my hair feel heavy, so it really does feel like it’s freshly washed! I buy a new can of this every few months and recommend it to anyone with oily bangs.

7. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser ($38)

I received this cleanser as a gift a while back and fell completely in love. I have pretty sensitive skin, and this one removes all the gunk while still making my skin feel comfortable. It’s such a soothing cleanser (the soy milk really makes the difference) and it’s my little guilty pleasure to spend a good few minutes rubbing it into my skin to make sure I’m all clean. Fresh always has great products, but this has to be one of their best.

8. Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe Lotion ($6)

I bought this lotion and will continue to stockpile it because it fixed three of my biggest skin problems ever. 1) It healed a sunburn in two days 2) It healed a nasty spot of dry skin on my foot 3) Made my skin look smooth and silky despite my frolicking at a festival all day. This lotion can do just about anything, and the non-greasy formula means you forget you wear lotion all day until you feel your amazingly silky skin.

9. bareMinerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($28.50)

bareMinerals is always my go-to for powder foundations, and this matte formula is perfect for my oily skin. I’ve been using this since I was 14 and seven years later it does a great job of keeping my skin pretty despite all the walking, talking, and hurrying I do on a daily basis. If there is a better powder foundation out there…no, there isn’t.

10. Sephora Green Tea Sleeping Mask ($4)

I am so in love with this mask, and the fantastic price tag. You only need a little bit to completely cover your face, and when you wake up your acne and oiliness seems to have disappeared! This has worked great for stubborn pimples the night before a date or even my pre-graduation acne. Plus, there are other formulas that go toward detoxifying, cleansing, etc. for all your other skin problems. I don’t know what I would do without a drawer full of these babies.

11. Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eye Shadow Palette ($12)

While I love all of my Maybelline The Nudes palettes, this one is the one I am always using. I’ve worn down a few of the shades down to the palette. The colours in this palette provide for such a sweet, flirty look and I’ve never had an issue with low pigmentation or fall out. If I’m going out on a normal day, or heading out to meet the girls for dinner, or just about doing anything, I am likely wearing one of these colours.

12. e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator ($3)

I never thought I’d be one for a lip exfoliator, but now I’m obsessed. Simply rub it over lips (and it’s a lipstick shape so it’s really easy!) and then wipe. Leaves you with incredibly soft lips that make applying even the most matte lipsticks easy. And it comes in Mint and Cherry if you want something with a little taste. I always keep one of these with me when I’m wearing a heavy lipstick and I’ve never been sorry.

13. Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Big Eyes Waterproof Mascara ($9.49)

This is my favourite mascara for bottom lashes (seriously, no smudge!) but also for when I’m going out. It packs such a big punch, and the fact it’s waterproof means it’s okay if I come home in the wee hours. The fact it has two brushes means you can play around for the perfect lashes, but mostly it just provides amazing volume without too scary of a brush. And if you want a really natural look, try the smaller wand on your top lashes. Serious definition that looks completely natural.

14. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores ($26)

This face mask is life. Sweep a layer over skin, watch three music videos, wash it off, and your skin is literally new. I’ve never had a face mask with such immediate results, but I can really see how much clearer my pores look after one use. As someone with huge pores, the more often I’ve used this mask the more improvement I’ve seen, which is saying something. I love this tube and will pass it along to anyone who need some pore rescuing.

15. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss Lipstick ($5)

While during the summer months I can’t do much more than chapstick, all fall and winter long I love a good dark hue. And this lipstick is by far one of the best I’ve used. I love it in 107 and the pigment stays on so long (I wore it for News Years and it didn’t fade until 2am with champagne and tacos) and it barely dries up my lips, which is a first for many lipsticks. I truly love this lipstick and have bought several shades of it because I need them.

16. e.l.f. Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter ($3)

I’ve been wearing this concealer for years. And I don’t just use it under my eyes, it works great for dark spots and acne too! I could splurge on the cult classic NARS concealer, but this one works so amazing and works well for my lighter skin. It blends very easily into my skin and provides such even coverage for a $3 concealer. I always have a tube of this in my bag and have turned more than one friend onto it.
